Privacy Policy

Regional Training Center (hereinafter "RTC") has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information-gathering and dissemination practices for this website: TheRTC.net, and associated web pages, applications and services (collectively, this "Site"). By using the Site, you do hereby represent and warrant that you have read, understand and agree to all terms of this privacy policy.

Purpose

This privacy policy is intended to inform you of the following:

  • The kinds of information, including personal information, collected on the Site;
  • How the information is used;
  • With whom information is shared;
  • Security measures taken on the Site;
  • How you can update or correct your personal information; and
  • How you can contact us.

Collected Information

Service - Related Information

The mission of RTC is to provide high quality graduate courses that empower teachers with knowledge, skills and strategies to enhance classroom instruction (the "Service"). In connection with the Service and your registration/enrollment in the programs offered by RTC, we collect certain personal information from you (the "User"). This information includes personal information such as name, address, city, state, ZIP code, phone, email address, and social security number. All information relating to registration for each RTC graduate course shall be provided to and/or collected by each applicable graduate school.

Non-Personally Identifiable Information

If you do nothing during your visit but browse through the web site, read pages, or download information, we may gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:

 

  • 1. The Internet domain (for example, "xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "yourschool.edu" if you connect from a university's domain) and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our web site;
  • 2. The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
  • 3. The date and time you access our site;
  • 4. The pages you visit; and
  • 5. If you linked to the Site from another web site, the address of that web site.

We use this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors - to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use. We do not track or record information about individuals and their visits.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data containing a unique identification number that is sent to your browser from a Web server, and is stored on your computer's hard drive. This Site uses cookies to collect certain non-personally identifiable information (e.g., IP address, web pages on the Site visited, time and date) make sure you don't see the same ad repeatedly. We use cookies for other purposes as set forth below.

RTC relies on cookies to preserve the RTC identity you have created while logged on. If you choose to not accept cookies, you cannot participate as a registered, signed-in member.

License for Use of Information

By submitting personal information on this Site you grant RTC a license to use such personal information for the purposes set forth in this privacy policy and the Terms of Use.

How we use User information

We may use non-personally identifiable information collected on the Site to improve the quality of the Service and the Site, by, among other things, diagnosing service or technology problems, assessing and maintaining security, and offering personalized services, content, as well as for use in advertising, and market research.

RTC uses personally identifiable information to register, and establish a profile for instructors and students in connection with the Services and to coordinate the functions relating thereto (e.g., course registration). In addition, we also share certain information about you with the accredited colleges and universities (and the related instructors) through which the Services are coordinated. Although we may share security information (e.g., account passwords) and personal communications (e.g., personal e-mail messages) with such parties where necessary and appropriate, we will not share such information with other third parties, except in response to formal requests (e.g., subpoena or court order) made in connection with litigation or arbitration proceedings directly relating to a domain name registration or other services we provide.

Sharing of Information

RTC reserves the right to disclose User information from both private and public areas of the site at our discretion to anyone or no one at all, if required by law or if given reason to believe, in our sole discretion, that someone is causing injury to or interference with the rights of RTC members or the general public, or with RTC's rights of property.

 

Security

Generally

This Site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. This includes a User record manager and technical systems. Other than as set forth in this privacy policy, RTC does not collect User's personal information.

Retention

To preserve the integrity of our databases, standard procedure calls for us to retain information submitted by members for an indefinite length of time. RTC understands your submissions as consent to store all your information in one place for this indefinite length of time, if we so wish. If required by law, as is the case to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we will nullify member information by erasing it from our database. Password Protection

Your Site profile is password-protected so that only you and authorized RTC employees have access to your account information. In order to maintain this protection, do not give your password to anyone. If someone who represents to you they are RTC staff asks for any personal account information, including password, check their URL. If it doesn't say they are [NAME] @thertc.net, they are not. Also, if you share a computer, you should sign out of your RTC account and close the browser window before someone else logs on. This will help protect your information entered on public terminals from disclosure to third parties.

Limitations

RTC makes every effort to ensure that your information is secure on its system. Only certain authorized RTC employees can access this information, and then only if it is relevant to their job duties. RTC has staff dedicated to maintaining this Privacy Policy and other privacy initiatives, periodically reviewing Web security and making sure that every RTC employee is aware of our security practices. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, RTC cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. If you have any further questions on this issue, refer to the site Terms of Use. RTC expressly disclaims any liability that may arise should any other individuals obtain the information you submit to this Site.

Updating/Editing your information

RTC believes strongly in giving you the ability to access and edit your personal information. To update your personal info, click on "My Info" tab once logged into your account. There you can view, update and correct your account information. You may edit your profile at any time -- all you need is your Student ID and password.

So that we can protect the integrity of sensitive data, there are certain pieces of information, such as your age, that you cannot alter yourself. For example, since children under 18 are not allowed to register as RTC members, we need to take reasonable measures to preserve the accuracy of our members' ages. Our databases automatically update any personal information you edit in your profile, or that you request we edit. Information transmitted through the Site or to RTC through any other means remains in our databases and become the property of RTC upon submission.

Child Protection

RTC is intended for people 18 or over. Our registration process is intentionally designed to identify children under 8 years of age. We have also made an effort to specifically limit RTC's appeal to people of age 18 and older. RTC will not knowingly collect any information from children under 18.

If it comes to our attention that a member has revealed on the Site that they are under 18, a member of RTC's staff will immediately close their account.

Disclaimer

The Site may contain hypertext or links to other Internet computer sites which are not owned, operated, controlled or reviewed by RTC. These links are provided solely as a courtesy and convenience to you, the visitor. When you link to one of these sites, you are no longer on the Site and this Privacy Policy will not apply. When you link to another web site, you are subject to the privacy policy of that new site. RTC exercises no control over the organizations, views, accuracy, copyright or trademark compliance or the legality of the material contained on those servers and do not sponsor, endorse, or approve the information, content, products, materials, opinions or services contained on such external sites. The visitor proceeds to these external sites at their own risk. Notification of changes

The Site's security and privacy policy are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary. This policy might change as RTC updates and expands its services. RTC will contact registered Users via email and will post notification if there are any material changes in its privacy practices.
